Today we had another wonderful relaxing day in our Bay. We have started to recognize certain patterns here, such as the daily “Pirates of the Caribbean” ship (as we call it) that passes by. As the spring break crowd has picked up, so has the kids sports, including inter-tubing! It’s strange to see that in the Caribbean since we are used to seeing that in rivers and lakes back home, but its quite entertaining! Even with the slight increase in people, it never feels remotely crowded. This has been one of our favorite things about Anguilla so far – the lack of crowds – which goes to show just how much marketing makes a difference given how gorgeous this little island country is.

At lunch we were joined by more of our rooster friends, which are a unique aspect of Anguilla as they, and the small bird featured in our post a few days ago, serenade us with the sounds of their calls at all hours of the day thanks to the surrounding properties which are still full of bushes and small trees. The picture below is our friend from yesterday’s lunch, but he had a great strut that we couldn’t pass up highlighting.

In the afternoon we ventured to the roof of our condo complex to see a panoramic view of Mead’s Bay – its is truly a gem!

For dinner we walked to the east end of the Bay to a favorite restaurant of visitors and locals alike – Blanchards. We shared hand sliced plantain chips, vegetables and a Caribbean sampler featuring jerk chicken, freshly caught grouper, and crayfish. The food was, of course, incredible. Apparently Anguilla was voted as having the best food in the Caribbean, but we aren’t sure the source of that information – perhaps it is like the ubiquitous “award winning clam chowder” that every restaurant in the Northwest seems to tout? Regardless, all the food we have had here has been incredible.

Today we also had a remembrance for our son, E.T. who we lost at 13 weeks. Today would have been his due date, so we chose to celebrate him at sunset. Even in his short life, he joined us in our travel adventures by visiting 2 foreign countries (Canada and Iceland), so it is fitting that on his due date we celebrate him by travelling.
